  • Brush and floss your mouth
  • Rinse after every meal
  • Minimize sugary and starchy food

Maintaining good oral hygiene is necessary every day for healthy smiles.

Where does tooth decay come from?

The food you eat causes the bacteria in the mouth to produce acids. Sugary, starchy and other types of food are the main reasons of plaque that causes acid formation. The dental plaque created from bacteria produces substances which create-

This lead to gum disease; gums pull away from the teeth and form tooth decay.

How can I prevent tooth decay?

Bayside Family Dentistry advices the best way to prevent tooth decay and remove plaque is brushing your teeth every day. Brush your teeth twice a day as it removes plaque from the tooth surfaces.

Did you know tooth decay is actually an infectious disease?

  • Flossing:
    • Hold the floss tightly between your thumbs and forefingers.
    • Move it gently between your teeth.
